Are the only options for the iphone 5 series to purchase outright or tab large. My question is because I don't need the large data package

You can buy them on Tab M or Tab S as well.
Apple just requires carriers to show the largest subsidy for their phones

Why buy an iPhone if you don't use much data at all? Or is it wi-fi where you would take advantage of it?

That is correct, the phones are mainly used on wi-fi and the preference for iphone is that it synchronizes well with itunes. Thanks

Then your best bet is to get their $29 plan. No data included in the package you just pay as you use data, if you have to because no wi-fi.

I think that the $15 prepaid base plan with the $25 nationwide talk booster may be a better option.

And if buying outright, straight from Apple is a way better choice as it'll get you an unlocked version for the same price (actually for a few dollars less if I recall correctly).
