Iphone finger reader

Why does it ask for finger reader if some one has a number pass word thanks is it best to have both on ?

Convenience for you. Up to you which one you want to use. If it allows both its just extra security. I don't think both are needed.

The password is a backup if the fingerprint reader is unable to read your fingerprint.... If it can't read your fingerprint it will ask for your password.
You can just use the password just go into your settings and select which method you want to unlock with.

You have to have a backup so you can't turn it off and use just fingerprint.

You cannot remove the passcode. The passcode is mandatory if you enable Touch ID.
