iPhone 7 Plus preorder - Tab charge and Credit Card charge question

I preordered an iPhone 7 Plus almost as soon as the orders went live but was presented with a by November 30th ship date. I noticed however that my new tab has been applied to my account and my latest bill has the monthly tab charge on it and also that my credit card has been charged (it switched from an authorization to charge this afternoon).

Is it normal practice for all of this to occur before a phone even ships? If it doesn't ship to me until November 30th I'll be paying for a phone I don't even have for almost three months.

@ Tyler The pre-order for iPhone 7 does indeed get charged to hold the order. The Plus version is currently in limited quantities in Canada hence the process that would ensure only people who are serious about their intention to purchase. I will look, but I'm quite sure that is the reason for the TAB charge to appear on your bill. That charge is actually going towards paying off your iPhone 7 Plus, so you will technically be ahead and have less to owe by the time you get.

Thanks for the reply. It is a strange concept to pay for something that you haven't received (and won't for some time), but I can understand what you're saying.

If I am able to find one in stores on Friday will I be able to contact Koodo to cancel my preorder right then while I'm in store? Having the tab charge already applied to my account will cause difficulties in store otherwise.

It's highly unlikely there will be any of the Plus versions in Koodo stores. Otherwise we wouldn't wait till Nov 30th to ship online orders.

That said you can certainly cancel your order before it ships.
