Invalid IMEI/no network connection after factory reset

I have a Samsung S5, after a factory reset my phone won't connect to network and I get an Invalid IMEI. Any Suggestions?
I have pulled the battery, pulled the sim card & restarted (after putting it all back together) with no luck. I have tried *#06# and a message tells me the IMEI is invalid.
I can't choose a network (either manually or Automatically).

Hmm not sure what the issue could be exactly but have you tried removing your sim card and putting it back in? Maybe it was moved and not on the contact pins properly

Redo the factory reset since you've already pulled the sim and battery.

Is your S5 stock or did you root it? Of you're not sure what I'm asking then the answer is likely no.

If redoing the factory reset doesn't help, try the solution mentioned in this article.

Ahmad/Chris, Thanks guys, I'll try redoing the factory reset. The phone has not been rooted...to my knoweledge, it is a refurb though so I'm not too sure what may have been done prior to me bringing it home.

Also, thanks for the link, I saw this on an S5 forum and thought it looked a bit sketchy but I'll give it a try if another reset won't fix my problem.

...when I'm doing the factory reset; is the sim card in the phone or out of it? Is it possible to damage the sim card by doing a reset with the card installed?

You can leave it in, won't damage it

Also, is it best to factory reset through the apps or do a hard reset by powering off and then pushing 'vol up, home and power buttons'? Or is it essentially the same thing?

You can do "Factory Data Reset" from Settings/Backup and Reset.
