Hi there. I am bringing up the issue I had regarding international text messaging six months ago. It's actually happening again. My messages are sent but the receiver cannot receive it. Since the recipient of my messages are in the Philippines, I use 011639XXXXXXXXX. It's been like this for two days now. This is actually the fourth time it happened. The second and third incident only lasted for a few hours. I was actually hoping that it would go back to normal again. After a day, I removed the battery and sim card from my phone. Then I texted my friends and still, they cannot receive it. When i tried calling my friends, they can receive my calls. If calling Tech Support would be your suggestion, I don't think I'd like that because the last time I called, I was told that it was not Koodo's problem and that I have to call Globe regarding this issue. If there is no other way, then I really hope that it won't take a whole week to work on it. I really need this issue to be resolved because it is the only way that I can communicate with my friends and relatives in the Philippines. I am a loyal customer who loves the plans you provide and I have never failed to pay my bills on time. I'm quite upset with this. I really hope it will be fixed soon.

Unfortunately this might actually be an issue with the carrier in the Philippines. In the interim you could try contacting their carrier and seeing if there is a text issue. Also if you have friends on other carriers, text them and see if they get it.

Also, have you looked into using data based messaging apps like Google Talk, whatsapp, or kakao talk? If your friends and family have data or wifi attached ton their phones at least you could still message them when outages occur.

I actually did that before and their customer service representative told me that it was not an issue on their end. I have called both Koodo and Globe and both sides claimed that they could not see any problems. When I insisted on my problem, Koodo gave me a ticket number. I had to wait for a week for the issue to be resolved. I have used all those apps as you said. I'm actually glad that it's available. On the contrary, I am paying for a plan with unlimited text messaging. If this problem keeps on occurring, it's like I bought the plan for nothing. Since I use these apps when I am connected to wifi, it is a great disadvantage when I am outside.

I sympathize with you but sometimes it takes users logging those tickets to alert the company there is an issue.

And the only way they can notice it is when Koodo gives them a call about it, thus calling tech support would be the only way to resolve this. Thanks again.

Yeah, it's definitely an issue on the Phillipine phone company's end. I had a similar issue with a different country and of course the easiest for them it to tell you that it's not their fault. But if your texting works with others it's the other company that has a problem. Koodo can really do anything and you would likely have the issue with no matter what company you are with. Globe needs to take care of this.

So you already called Koodo and they've already logged a ticket? If that's the case then calling Koodo again won't amount to much.

The problem with troubleshooting international texts messages is that Koodo's technicians have to look at Koodo's network and get in touch with not only the carrier in the Phillipines but also a third party that transfers all the inter-carrier texts (international or otherwise) so it can take a while to resolve international texting issues.

If you already have a ticket logged with Koodo then the best thing to speed up the process is to get your friends in the Phillipines to do the same on their end.

This question has been tagged as Blackberry. Are you texting your friend, or are you using BBM to text?

If you're using BBM, then it may be an (intermittent) issue with the BBM network which is not run by the carriers.
