I have not left Canada yet. If I activate International Data Minutes & Text before leaving Canada will all calls, text & data I use prior to leaving Canada be debited from my regular plan, or will it start deducting from the add-on international plan, once I have departed Canada?

The clock starts ticking as soon as you activate the add on.

But the cash register only goes ka-ching once you are actually roaming, i.e., not using your phone while physically in Canada. That usage comes out of your normal plan's minutes/data/texts.

And the add-ons don't automatically renew.

Hey Keith,

Add-ons are activated when you complete the purchase and are good until 11:59pm on the day they expire. When you are in Canada, you will be using your regular plan. However, we recommend adding Roaming Add-ons before you leave Canada to make sure you make full advantage of it.

Happy travels!

Good idea to plan ahead. There have been some reports of folks not being able to activate these add-ons by texting while they are outside of Canada.

Generally, texting to "premium numbers" such as (cough, cough "text Trump to 88036") will not work. Out-of-country texts are usually limited to valid phone numbers.
