I have a $55 plan with Kodoo and I turned on easy roaming for my time in the Bahamas. I have connected to the provider in the Bahamas and can make local calls and texts, but I can't call or text Canada (i can't even call access my voicemail). This is an urgent issue for me as I have been applying for jobs and I received a call from a potential employer but I can't call them back.

How are you dialling the number? You need to dial +1 to reach Canada from abroad, as it is an international call. You might also need to add the pay per use international calling add on to your account via self serve.

I am dialing 1 in front of the number and I have international data and voice roaming already selected on my koodo add-ons

Try dialing either 011, or the '+' sign before the 1.

Oh, I was dialing the plus sign just forgot to mention it and I tried 011 but still nothing. I also tried restarting my phone several times and turning off and on the airplane mode

@Calvin: What was the name of the local roaming partner there? As you mentioned you could local numbers, can you call them to check? and ask if they block "international" call from your cell. Have you received any text from Canada?

Having Easy Roam “ON” changes nothing but the billing. You should be able to make calls at pay-per-use prices, even without Easy Roam. It may get be wisest to connect with Koodo through Facebook or Twitter to learn if something is missing on your account, however, that texting works, suggests things are working from the Canadian end of things (your roaming privileges are accepted by the local telecom).

Ok so I called koodo and it has been fixed! Based on what I can gather the Bahamas has two systems in place for mobile phones and for some reason my koodo was connecting me to the one dedicated soley to the Bahamas as opposed to the one that allowed for international calls. The fix had to be made on koodo's side by tech support

@David. I do see what you mean but having easy roam does save you from needing a couple of add ons according to Koodo explanation of easy roam below.

To access pay-per-use rates outside the U.S., you'll need to add the International Voice Roaming and International Data Roaming add-ons to your account if you want your phone to work abroad. If you're using Easy Roam while travelling abroad, you don't need to do this.

Funny the Bahamian telco couldn’t tell you when you contacted them, Calvin.

@Mats, Easy Roam is supposed to automatically add those add-ons to the user account upon first application, but so were the former travel options. Often the automatic step did not work, and folks had to add them manually. Since the OP had these travel add-ons, and could make local calls, he was ready to go, and Easy Roam only addressed the billing!
