implement data sharing and pooling

I would like to see the implementation of:

1. data sharing (not wifi tethering but separate SIM cards against a single data pool)

and

2. data pooling (phone A has X data bucket, phone B has Y data bucket; putting phone A + phone B together in one account and they both share a data pool in total amount of X+Y).

And what happens when Phone B uses way more data and goes over? Now phone A is stuck with data overages.

Phones having their own data amounts is the way to go. It simplifies the billing.

I respectfully disagree with your viewpoint.

Currently I have my phone plan with 6GB of data, my wife has 1GB of data, and our tablet has a separate tablet flex plan (in which I turn off cellular data unless absolutely necessary). I hardly reaches my 6GB limit, yet my wife could on occasion reach 1GB and results in overage charges.

If I can pool all these three things together, then 3 devices can share a single 7GB pool.

There are also threads have iterated similar viewpoints (for example, "family plans" threads) regarding minutes as well.

One simply has to control their data usage. Not doing things such as video streaming, mp3 downloading and the like can be used for wifi.

Let's say for example, you end up using 8 gb of data. Now both phones are stuck with data overages.

Everyone should be responsible for their own usage.

I can think of many people, in your situation, where they would go over their data without a 2nd thought.

While I disagree with the need for bigger data amounts, I do expect bigger data plans in the future.

Data/airtime sharing most likely will never happen with Koodo. They would need to change their system completely to accomodate it as well as bill the usage correctly. That would be a big investment, something I don't see Koodo doing.

Telus already has a similar structure in place, therefore implementing it at Koodo wouldn't take much effort.

"I can think of many people, in your situation, where they would go over their data without a 2nd thought." Again I disagree: based on my review of all of my bills within the past 2 years, no single bill will has reached a combined 7GB of data totaled together from all three devices - not even close.

So question comes down to - not from a technical perspective, but more from a business perspective.

Telus and Koodo are indeed owned by the same corporation, much like Milestones and Swiss Chalet. Doesn't mean it's cost effective to make the menu options the same.

This has been asked for before but they haven't moved on it. Im.in the same boat. We both have 3gb but my wife uses 49-51mb a month and I use just over 2gb. Would be great to just share the data between the phones should my needs ever change.
