IMEI number not found

I have an Iphone 4. I am visiting another country (US) and wanted to check if I could use it on a network here. They have a web page where you enter IMEI number; I did (from the phone) and they could not find it. I went to IMEI.info and they were unable to find the number. Question: what does this mean for using the phone in the US?

Where did you get your iphone 4 from?Depending on where it was purchased will vary on the frequences it operates on. If the carrier you're using doesn't use the same frequencies it might not work. Can you tell us where you purchased your phone from and which carrier were you looking to roam with?

Any phone purchased from Koodo will roam in the US on either T-mobile or AT&T.

Keep in mind your 4 will only support Edge/2G speeds if you're using data on T-Mobile.

Not in all areas, T-Mobile uses the 1900 PCS band for 3G as well. They're also in the process of migrating their 3G to this band to free up their AWS spectrum for LTE.
