Any reason your not just downloading the ring tones straight to the phone? It much easier than trying to transfer from a laptop to a device.
Download a file manager from the PlayStore, I use PowerGrasp and highly recommend it. Then you should see your downloads you downloaded to the device in the Download folder, just copy them and move to your ring tone or notification folder which should be in the list of folders that are showing.

thank you  I understand all that . I dont have wireless internet ,so I cant download to the phone . The folders dont show on the list when i open  the internal storage folder .  I guess I will try to find the same ring tones when i can get wifi on the phone .

hey , just for future  reference , I had to change the settings for the phone . It was set to use as a camera instead of a media device . Now all the folders  show on the list when I open the internal storage folder .
