You can use any phone on prepaid as long as it satisfies 2 conditions:

1) It's compatible with the network you intend to use it on
2) It's has a clean IMEI

There is no "phone debt". Account debt, sure, it's called remaining tab. But none of that has any link to the phone itself. It's tied to the account while the phone itself is not.

Also on prepaid it can't be an old CDMA device like the old blackberry devices, it has to take a SIM Card on prepaid

Yeah, that's why I left out the clean ESN part, 'cause them CDMA devices don't have IMEI's :P hehehe.. I should have known better though, most people don't differentiate IMEI from ESN, thanx for the clarification Kid! :D
