I have an iphone 4s, I'm going south of the border and I'm wondering if I turn off my 3g if I will be charged? I will not be texting or calling or using data in the states just using it for entertainment.

Don't turn off 3g, Kathleen, but put your phone on airplane mode instead. You can still use WiFi (I think you may need to enable that). If you want to play it EXTRA safe, remove your SIM card altogether until you come back and you will definitely not be charged a penny :D

Turning off 3G simply disables that radio. Your phone could still connect to 2G networks while roaming.

Or you could turn off "CELLULAR DATA". This is what you need to turn off in order to not be charged for data. Just so you know incoming texts are free!!
