If I pre-order and pay for out right a Galaxy S6 from Telus can I run it with my Koodo Sim or will I need to have it unlocked first?

It's a hit or miss, usually you'll have to unlock it first unless it is a telus iphone. Hopefully someone here can confirm though :)

If its from Telus then yes, I will work on the Koodo Network without it being unlocked. (From experience)

From experience with the S6? Daniel is right in this instance. It's hit or miss although most newer Telus Samsung devices seem to be intercompatiable. There's no guarantee it will work without unlocking yet.

Instead of buying it from Telus why don't you just buy an unlocked model from somewhere like expansys.com, then you don't have to worry about whether or not it will work as it will work on all compatible carriers.
I've bought an unlocked Samsung device from expansys.com and had a great experience as the phone was to me within a day of ordering.

Strange that I'm only seeing the edge version on there and no price listed. I haven't done the exchange rate but wouldn't it be more expensive anyways? Besides that, I was thinking of pre-ordering from Telus for the free wireless charging cradle.

Remember. The new S6 takes a nano card. I think I read that. Not the same sim card your S5 or S4 takes. Once again I think. So you will have to buy koodo nano card if you buy the phone from telus and plan to use it with koodo.

Maybe one of the "masters" can confirm the sim card type the S6 uses.

As for the free wireless cradle from telus. Any thing free is cool. Don't get me wrong. But it says 80 buck value. Pull them up on eBay. Buy the same one for 20 bucks. So not some great deal. But free is still better then 20 bucks if you plan on buying the phone any ways I guess.

Yeah, I'm not sure if my HTC ONE M7 has a nano Sim or not but that's not my concern. I can always change the Sim card, what I want to know is if the Telus model will run on the Koodo network without unlocking the device.
I went to the Telus store today to enquire about it and the response was similar to what I've been getting on here. The S6 may run on Koodo without having to unlock but they won't know for sure until the devices are delivered. In any case I was informed that the free charging cradle is only for 2 year activations and I'm buying the phone out right so maybe Amazon is where I'll have to go.
Thanks to everyone for their replies.

Not a big thing if locked. On average unlocking online is like 20 bucks. Was thinking the same as your myself. But the 128 edge one at telus and then unlock it online and use on koodo. Never hurts to just unlock it even if it works on both telus and koodo. As they tend to resell quicker when you include the word unlocked.

Hey there is one for everyone. Any sign of a otterbox defender series for the edge S6. Being the price of the phone. And if they do make one. Curious on how they will protect the edges while at the same time ensuring the phone does not pop out of the case aimlessly. Being it edge screen design. Kind of don't want to buy it unless they have a good case out for it. As a ops drop on sidewalk on a phone that's over a grand. Kind of scares me.

I'm not going for the edge variant simply because no matter what kind of case you put on it the edge of the screen will still be exposed and prone to damage over a screen that sits flush with the frame that protects it. I expect that those edge screens will be more costly to fix as well.
I'm sure that Otterbox will make one for it though but so far the only ones I've seen will clip onto the 4 corners only leaving the front(of course) and sides completely exposed.

I was at a Rogers today ( the only place that I could find with working GS6 models) and I played with both. I was very impressed with the edge, it looks/ feels absolutely fantastic but I don't want to take a chance on it.

You should also make sure you can just buy the phone outright AND get the bonus.

Sometimes those deals are only offered when Activating or Renewing.
