It can take up to 24hrs for your phone to become active but usually takes 15 minutes to an hour or so. While the phone is on take out the battery and SIM CARD for a minute or so and then replace them and try it again it usually kick starts it and gets it going.
If it works please star this answer or any answer that helps so other will be able to find thee solution if they're having the same issue Thanks hope it helps.

Not to nitpick, but I haven't seen a phone take 24 hours to activate. The only time there's ever been a delay in the activation is when there is an error that occurs during the activation process(there are 3 type of errors that can occur, but I won't get into that here). Most of the time, these are easily resolvable in less than 24 hours.

Not to say that it doesn't happen, but in my experience, something like that is really rare. That being said, doing a manual network search can help with this.

In addition to Pauls suggestions, make sure you don't have 2g or gsm only mode selected in your network settings. Koodo doesn't support this mode.
