If you have a $30 Canada-Wide Talk & Text Plans, It doesn't includes Data.
So if you use data there will be charges for Pay-Per-Use

Keep in mind your first bill could include proration. Your billing date will be set a few days after your activation date so you will have to pay for a full month in advance, as well as those extra days before your first billing cycle.

Data charges are when your phone uses the internet over the Cellular network.

This could be you surfing the internet, emails being retrieved, an app accessing online content, any app downloads or software updates, or any app on your phone that make be unknowingly updating in the background or even pinging the server. All of this would result in data charges unless you are on wifi which is using someone else's internet (home internet, McDonald's free wifi, etc)
