I have an LG Optimus Black. How do I back up all the info on my phone (contacts, pictures, music, apps, etc.) to my tablet or work desk top computer? How do I sync the same info to Google? I have a gmail account. Do I need to have another account on Google too?

Go into the phones settings menu and under accounts it should say Google if you set Google up when you first got the phone. Click on the word Google and it should bring up a list of what you want to sync with Google, check off what you do then tap sync or if you want to sync everything you can press sync all. It will then sync all that with your Google account. Dobthe same with your Android tablet and it will sync and everything willl be on your tablet you synced from your phone to Google.

I have followed the instructions but can't find the information on my gmail account that has been synced.  Where is it?

Hi Kid,

Thanks. Went to the account menu, as you said. It shows my g-mail account. It lists "instant upload" "Books" "contacts" "gmail" and "calendar" as things to sync, which is fine as far as it goes. What about backing up things like my memos, pictures, Kobo books, downloaded apps (with all my personalizede settings) etc? I'm using my phone the way I used to use my DayTimer and journal. In otherwords, my phone has my life on it.

And, BTW, I have a Blackberry tablet, not an Android.

Unfortunately, you would not be able to sync your google account to your Blackberry Playbook as they are to completely different systems. To have your contacts to be the same on your Playbook as your phone you would need to go into the contacts app on the Playbook and manually enter in the information again.

Backing up your info in your phone it self, all you should need to do is go into your settings and find the security section (I believe that is what its called) and find the Backup option. Then it should backup all your information with your google account.

Actually when the Playbook gets updated to BlackBerry 10 you'll be able to transfer contacts just as easy as from an Android to an Android. Just add your Google Account to the BB10 OS and that's it, your contacts will be present. You are right it can't be done right now as far as I know though. The Playbook is said to be updated to BB10 before the end of the year though.

Hi Again Kid, & Hi Robidoux,

Thanks for your replies. I've followed both your instructions and my contacts are still not backing up to my google account. I've been adding new contacts as people phone me. I've checked to make sure everything is synced to my google account and I've run the sync several times. It seems to be trying to work, in that I get the sync icon, but when I then check my contacts in google, the new contacts haven't been added. Where to do I go from here?

BTW, thanks for the info about OS10 coming out for Playbook later this year. Do you know if that is going to have an update for the Kobo app? It's miles behind the Android version, which makes it very frustrating when I'm reading the same book over both platforms!

When you are adding contacts to your phone's contact app, are you adding them to the phone only or are you adding them to your google account?

Whenever you go to enter in a contact you are given a drop down menu that has a number of options:

Phone
SIM
Google Account (usually listed as your gmail address)

Best thing to do would be to make sure that you click on the drop down menu and then choose the Google Account option.

Instead of having to reenter in each contact doing this, you should be able to go into your contact app, click on your menu button (either hard button or soft button) and then go to Import/Export. There should be an option to Import your contacts to your SIM or to your Google Account.

If there is no option for that in the menu, then you can always go to the google site using a desktop or laptop and enter in the information manually. I know that is a longer way of doing it, but if the above options arent there, this would be the only and best way of doing it.
