Hmmm...without an original Proof of Purchase, not sure even BlackBerry would accept it, unfortunately.
Also, since you're not the original owner, even with the Proof of Purchase it might not qualify. At least not for free.
You'll likely need to get your friend involved & have them do it.

Are you getting an error code when trying to turn it on?
I had a problem like that a few months ago & needed to manually reload the entire OS back onto it. No idea why it happened, but it fixed it.

I'd recommend contacting BlackBerry directly to see what they'll do & how much it'll cost.

So here's the deal, let's forget you got it from a friend. Call BlackBerry directly and attempt to arrange for warranty.

If not contact your friend and ask him to arrange for service.

Looks like you'd have to contact Blackberry directly for warranty servicing. Problem is I can't see any email or phone # on their support website. It looks like Twitter and forums only.

The only way that blackberry will take calls is via carrier transfer.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate part of bringing your own device to any provider is that they can only offer limited support, but they may be able to connect you to a blackberry rep although they will more than likely charge you $50 for the call

You could try having your friend arrange for service. Without a receipt or some kind of record of the sale you may be out of luck.

Called support number and local number (I live in Kitchener Waterloo home of Rim/ Blackberry) both lead to India where they want $49 US to talk with no guarantee you will reach a solution. May be an android in my future or become an Isheep?

If you purchased it through Blackberry's Employee Purchase Plan, try emailing Client Care from Brand Alliance.

Client Care: clientcare@brandalliance.com

They will require more information such as your contact information as well as:
1) Product IMEI number
2) The issue with the device
3) Is the screen cracked?
4) Is the litmus paper in the battery component red or white?
5) Is the USB port loose or broken?
6) Is the housing of the device cracked?
7) The name of the employee who purchased it for you.

I hope that helps! :)

Thanks I'll try that I have nothing to lose dead is dead. I had it checked at local Cell repair shop as I expected motherboard is done. Screen is fine housings not cracked no red on battery or phone on the white that turns red. Girl at the cell repair place said all good for you see if you can get Koodo to access Blackberry support usually they will do that for customers so took it to a kiosk and they said no your on your own never got it from us. tried phone it's all automated and eventually automated response was no warranty on this phone. Since it don't power up not sure i can get the IMEI number the pin number is under the battery in tiny hard to read letters and numbers but with a mag glass got that. :-)

Remove the battery and to the right of the positive contact is a little white square think that is it if it's red not good means it got wet.

I used my warranty Z10 for 6 months worked perfect then bought a Z30 for the FM radio (and bigger screen) and it's just sitting great back up I guess.

My Z10 has suddenly stopped detecting my sim card. A week ago it was detecting the card and after that it stopped detecting. Can anyone provide me the solution for this ? What happened to it as it did not get wet.
Please help me out ASAP.

Try these steps.

1. Remove the battery and SIM and re-insert both.
2. Make sure your Z10 isn't set to 2G only.
3. Try to manually select Koodo from the network list.
4. Go to a Koodo kiosk/store and ask to use one of their SIMs to test the phone. If it works, then you just need a new SIM.

If none of these work, then the fault is with your phone and you'll have to send it for warranty (if less than a year old), or pay someone to repair it.

I am in India. As it is not detecting sim so I can't manually select the mobile network. I did point 1 and 2 but no results.
