Koodo can't determine if you're on a contract with your old carrier. You'd h ave to contact them in regards to that. I'd suggest porting your # in to Koodo 2 days before your billing cycle ends in case there is a problem with the port. Koodo will need your phone # as well as your account # from your old provider to initiate the port. Generally the port can take 2-3 hours.
When your contract is up with a carrier your service doesn't automatically stop it just means you are not tied to that carrier anymore and can change carriers at any time without penalty. Wait until your contract is complete and then go intoa Koodo kiosk and port your # from the your present carrier to koodo. If you don't wait till your contract is up you'll have to pay early termination fees on your old carrier as your contract would have been entered before the new rules were put into place.
