I had a series of photos in my Gallery on my Samsung. I took a photo by mistake and went into gallery to delete it by touching it and pressing delete, and it deteted all the photos I had taken previously. How can I restore them?

Unfortunately, if you didn't have a back up, there is no way to retrieve them :(

Four years ago, you might not be able to recover lost Android photos. However, with the progress of technology, today the situation has changed.

Hello, Carole Forhan! What is your cell phone model? Is the deleted photos saved in an external memory card or in the internal storage?
1) Common data recovery tools can only restore lost files from external memory cards. Since they can not identify the Android phone's internal memory, they can't restore any file from the phone's internal storage.
2) If the lost images were stored in your Samsung mobile phone's internal memory, you can only rely on professional SoftHow Android Data Recovery software.

In addition, there are some mobile phones, such as Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6, do not support memory cards. All the data of the phones is stored in the internal memory. If you unfortunately lose important files from them, you can only rely on professional Android data recovery tools.
I know that this QUESTION appeared four years ago, maybe my answer can't help the thread starter. But I hope my answer will help people who encounter similar problems now or in the future. Good luck!

Are they auto-uploading to dropbox?

If there wasn't a back-up saved on a computer, or if you didn't activate DropBox when you first got the phone(Or after, depending if you were shown how to do it) there isn't any way to retrieve those deleted pictures. :(

When a "delete" is performed, only the space that the file occupies is marked as blank and can be reused by new files, but the deleted file will be still there until new data overwrites it. Hence, if you haven't shot any new photos or video clips, you still can recover deleted photos with the help of Samsung Galaxy recovery software.

If you accidentally deleted your photos, videos, contacts and text messages on your Android, Samsung Galaxy, and so on, you have a chance to recover them. Don’t worry. You can get the help of Android Data Recovery, which will be your best choice and help you restore your lost data on Samsung Galaxy in a simple way. In order to prevent it from being overwritten and recover your data successfully, you have to stop using your Samsung Galaxy after deleting the data by mistake.

I have used a data recovery program with a certain amount of success ,,,, albeit some of the pictures were messed up (10-15 out of 500) that's not too bad IMHO... I forget the name of the program I used but there are many out there

Any Photo Recovery program like Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery Software, PhotoRec or Minitool Photo Recovery can help you to recover your photos back.

A data recovery tool would help if you don't have any backups of them. And I think the first thing you should do is to check out the backup of the lost data.

If you really want the deleted data back, you should try every method, no matter they are free or paid. Those recovery tools can also have the possibility to recover deleted photos I think.
