I was wondering if the A8 was a good as the s...I have galaxy s5 and want to upgrade but cannot afford your S8 or higher...But I want to know I'm getting just as good of a product.

No I'd say that's downgrading especially the camera. You'd be better off saving up a little more and then getting a Galaxy S7 or S8.

Well the S5 is pretty long in the tooth now.  The A8 is actually a really decent phone.  My uncle picked one up a couple of months ago and I've been pretty impressed with it.

It all depends what your needs and priorities are, I suppose.

Perform a factory reset (which will make it like when you got it day 1, other than battery since its probably pretty worn down so a new battery will make it like brand new) after backing up your person info and it will be pretty much the same device as the A5 but the A5 camera doesn't have optical image stabilization so photos and video don't come out great in many cases unless you hold the phone perfectly still or have it on a tripod of stabilization device like the DJI OSMO.
I have an A5 and my wife didn't like it because she likes taking alot of photos with her phone.

If you want a new phone right now look at the LG G6 perhaps which is a lower price and blows both those phones away especially camera wise and performance as well as build and design IMO....the Essential Phone is also a great choice for a more affordable option however the camera on the S6 is better than the Essential Phone IMO..

Paul, I think Rose was asking about the A8, not the A5

https://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Galaxy-A8-2018,Samsung-Galaxy-S8/phones/10737,1031... A8 is med range phone while S8 is high end. A8 will have better battery life and the performance difference is probably not noticeable with normal usage. Maybe there's some demo units you can check out for both of them? Personally I'd get the A8 over the S8 price wise and battery wise since I care more about battery then performance once the performance is decent/good.
