Because your phone possibly connected to a non-Canadian network and you used it. Do you live by the boarder?

A long term fix would be to go to your Network settings and manually select Koodo as your carrier instead of automatic.

And you can call koodo (*611 it's a free call as long as you are connected to Koodo's network) to discuss your bill

If not near a Koodo phone:

Dennis +1.

If you live or work near the border and call Koodo, telling them that you will now select Koodo only as your network provider rather than "automatic", they will most likely refund the roaming charge on a one-time basis.

The "automatic" setting means the phone will pick the strongest tower available, and if that provider is US and has a roaming agreement with Koodo, that's the one that gets connected. "Koodo only" shuts off all outside suppliers (roaming).

I have family that works for the Cdn Border Services and Koodo was able to accommodate them.

Hey Nola,

Did you happen to call directory assistance (*411) when you were travelling? Directory assistance calls are not included in roaming add-ons and are charged separately at pay-per-use roaming rates.
