Hi guy,
Unfortunately, you would have to call to cancel. We (customers like you) don't have access to the account.

There is another way. You could port to another carrier of your choice, then the Koodo account would be automatically closed.

Thanks for not helping me Dinh.  Can anybody on this website provide help?  I don't need excuses, I need someone with the ability to actually assist me.  Does this person exist?

I didn't say any excuse. The cancellation term was written in your contract.

What is your prerogative?

This is BS.  This greedy company, has turned their customer service department into a profit center, charging $10 for any 'account changes'.  This leads to the department being understaffed, and the agents being incentivized to prioritize customers who need changes rather than cancellations.

@guy: you could set up a call back through the bot. if that was what you would like.

Probably not the answer you're looking for Guy, but a cancelation request can only be processed by a call centre agent that can accurately authenticate you as the account owner using personal information. With this being a public forum, we're unable to do that.

That being said, may I ask why you're looking to cancel? Is there anything we might be able to help you with here?

That's not an answer at all.  It's the same BS Dinh  was saying.

Is there anybody here with the ability to assist, or just a bunch of mindless bots?

Nope. All the mindful bots are at the call centre.

No, those arent' mindful bots, those are south americans getting paid $3 per hour, but somehow they're the only ones who have the ability to "accurately authenticate" me.

What a scam / Joke.

This forum is a scam / joke.

Somebody prove me wrong and actually provide assistance.

You won’t be proven wrong.

Calling in to cancel is the only option. There is no shortcut phone number.

There is.  There always is.  Maybe a more experienced robot with more points has the number?

David, assuming you're a real person which I'm not convinced you are.  The only reason you would be on here is for financial compensation from Koodo.  How do they compensate you?  Do the points you earn reduce your bill?

No sane person would answer questions in a Koodo forum for fun.  Nobody should be that passionate about participating in a company forum when the company is clearly heartless.

On hold for over an hour this morning.  Koodo jerks have no respect for my time.  They could easily provide customers the ability to cancel their service online but instead they've designed a system intended to make it difficult to cancel your service.

CROOKS.

Fully agree, but so far they haven’t chosen to do so. Once upon a time, you could simply write ‘please cancel on [date]’ across your telephone bill, send it in with your regular monthly payment, and that was it.

You should save your rage for more important matters. You're leaving Koodo, and this post will probably be archived as soon as you're done posting... Never to be seen again.

That said I'm sorry you're experiencing such long waits and being forced to go that route... Indeed it doesn't seem fair.

There is actually a faster way. Buy a prepaid SIM (any company), activate it and port out your number to that. Your Koodo account will be closed instantly, no calling necessary.

Then just let the prepaid account expire. That's what I would do!

"Sorry about the wait, We're a little busier then usual"  LIE.

"You could always browse for the answers you need at Koodo.com"  NO I CAN"T.

"Otherwise, we'll get to you as soon as we can"  LIE.

I'm going to be so nice and sweet to the customer service person who picks up the phone because the stakes are so high.

Getting through to a customer service agent is like catching lightning in a bottle.  If i mess it up I might never get through again.

So much pressure.  I'm just praying this person on another continent making a minimal wage helps me.  Praying.

Hopefully they pick up within the next 30 minutes or once again, I will need to try another time.  Maybe after soccer practice tonight.

Another summer night not spent with my children, but instead on Koodo's customer service line.

Wonderful.

@Guy. Yes it should be much easier to cancel your service but calling in and waiting on hold is the only option.

In case you didnt know(just trying to help) cancelling will close the account and the number will be gone. If you want the number then just sign up with a new provider and then port the number in to it. This will cancel your Koodo account and you wont have to call Koodo at all.

I have a work phone and I've been holding on to my personal number with Koodo for two years paying $25 a month and I don't use it.  Time to let it go and cancel it.  I don't need two phones.

If you have folks who might still call it, you could port it to a VoIP service, and forward it to your work number (or elsewhere) for a few dollars per month or less.

Phone service is cancelled.  After three hours combined waiting on hold last night and this morning, I finally got through;  The gentlemen at the call center in El Salvador was very friendly and efficient, and then he transferred me to the cancellation department in Montreal.

Once I got through easy peasy; however, I will never join Koodo again because of this experience.

Why did I have to wait three hours to talk to someone in El Salvador, only so that they could briefly attempt to keep my business, before transferring me to a department with a three minute hold time in Montreal  who could actually complete the cancellation.

Just let the customers contact the cancellation department directly.  Koodo, be decent and put that option in the phone menu.

A sincere thank you to Mobile Master Dave, and Mobile Master Sophia for entertaining me and providing me some guidance while I was on hold - you are both very good and efficient robots.
