I received my phone unlocking code but I have nowhere to enter it

I have had a Samsung S6 with Koodo for one year. I called today to have my phone unlocked. The CSA gave me an unlocking code and instructed me to remove my SIM card, restart my phone, and then enter the unlocking code when I am prompted to do so. I followed those instructions but I am not being prompted to enter my unlocking code anywhere. Where do I enter my unlocking code?

Hi Zach you need to put in a non Koodo or non Telus SIM Card or non Public mobile SIM Card ( so any other carrier than those in the Telus family) and it will prompt you to unlock with the code you were given.

Just a disclaimer that this doesn't work on all Android phones, but thanks for finding this.

Seems pretty reliable for Samsungs, but that's all I've tested it on myself.

Either way it's awesome and new to me, thanks Timo, this is my new piece of knowledge for the day

It didn't work on LG G6. It reported "connection problem or invalid MMI code"

I mentioned the same code in a post three weeks ago. The USSD code #7465625*638*# works on 'S' series devices as far back as the S2x and should work on newer S series devices.

LG uses a slightly different format that looks something like this: 2945#*873# The last three digits being the model number of the LG G6. Tapping NetworkSubset Lock or Service Provider Lock should give the option to enter the unlock code.

So with the LG one you put the last 3 digits depending on whatever model it is of LG phone or does it just happen to be the 3 numbers of the G6?

Correct. Depending on the model number of phone you have. I don't have the G6, but this works on an LG Phoenix 2 (AT&T) model number K371. In my case, the code would look like this: 2945#*371# (though menu options may differ slightly compared to the G6).

Good to know,
LG is funny though. I just tested on an unlocked LG G6. It allowed me to access the "SIM unlocked process". However, when I clicked on one menu it said "this phone is permanently locked and cannot be unlocked". LG likes to scare people.
