I purchased International texting plan. Only one text went through until I returned from vacation. I ended up using data why ?

I purchased an international texting plan. Only one text went through until I returned from vacation. As a result I ended up using data why did this happen?

Data and texts are two different things, what you purchased doesn't help you out at all with data roaming usages and if data was on while you were out of the country it would still be using data.

Have you signed into the Koodo self serve website, and added the free “International Voice Roaming" and / or the free “International Data Roaming” add on?  Buying the Add-on only nets you a savings on your roaming fees, it does not change anything about the ability of the phone to roam. Without the Voice / Text / Data Add-on, you can still roam at pay-per-use prices.

I purchased the international texting plan...my intention was to text my kids but, since that didn't work, I ended up using data to communicate. I understand that package for texting doesn't include data. I am frustrated I paid for something I couldn't use and then had to pay more for date.

In order to use your phone overseas the free International voice roaming add on would need to be provisioned on your account. It should be added automatically when you purchase a roaming add on but does not always process correctly.

And then what do you do? I couldn't call so I was stuck with a useless plan

This community is here 24-7. You did indicate that you had data access. Had you posted this question at that time we could have walked you through adding the feature via self serve. Unfortunately, there is not a lot that we in the community are able to do after the fact. We are all just customers like yourself.

Twice now i have paid for international texting and it did NOT work.   Can Koodo post correct instructions for set up???

I was not aware that this was just customers. Guess I will have to take this up with koodo directly. I would have been paying 1.50/mb more to ask the question. Thanks for trying
