I need to increase data

I have the monthly $35/1Gb plan with Koodo, but I find the 1Gb is a bit small. 2-3 Gb would be ideal  longer term.

I have seen the $40/4gb deal with Public Mobile, and could just pay off my tab and port over to PM.
But I would really would prefer to stay with Koodo and avoid porting etc, and it would be great if they could come fairly close to matching the PM offer. Wouldn't expect them to  offer the exact same plan but reasonably close.

I really  don't want to increase my Koodo rate too much as I am retired Any ideas?

Public Mobile also throttles their data to 3mbps, so I wouldn't expect Koodo to match. Public and Koodo are also both owned by Telus. There currently is 2gb for 45 dollars with Koodo. Or you could switch to Virgin/Fido for the similar data bonus offers to new and upgrading customers. Guessing you won't be buying a phone a tab as an option to get 3gb bonus data. If you do decide to opt with Public, they'll also give you a 2 dollar sonth discount for automatic payment setup, so it comes to 38 a month to start then.

Hi Goran.I don't know if it's correct, but I had read that 3G data would not be noticeable for someone just web browsing, reading news and using email?Anyway, I have an Essential phone from Koodo with a Tab balance of about $170 after I take into account June, June and August bills are already pre-paid.
Have had a fairly decent experience with Koodo, (barring the initial screw-ups!! ) and am not enthusiastic about porting etc again, but don't see why I should pay an extra $10 for 1Gb with Koodo

3G is capable of up to 42mbps. Realistically I've had as high as 20. The 3mbps Public limits you to is fine for news and email and chats but youre going to notice Web browsing being relatively slow.

10 bucks for 1 more gig is fairly decent actually but 3 bucks for 3gigs is obviously much better. At the end of the day you should pick what works best for you.
