I have used almost all my data in 15 days into my billing cycle and now want to change plan so what will be the pro-rated charges?

HI, I will really appreciate if someone can answer.

My current plan allows me 5 GB of data and I have almost used 95% of it. Now I want to go to a cheaper plan which allows me 2 GB of data. There are still 15 days left in my current billing cycle. If I make the change today how much pro-rated charges will I have to pay?

I am concerned because in just 15 days I have used 95% of the data (my understanding is that I would have been in the safe zone if I would have used less than 50% of the data in 15 days if we divide data equally over the month), so how the pro-rated charges will be calculated?

Thank you in advance!

I think the proration is applied to minutes and text only https://www.koodomobile.com/help/making-changes-your-account

I read somewhere, data doesn't prorate as you change your plan mid-cycle, so you don't have to worry. The data usage is always showed in the self-serve anyway, it should stop when you don't have any data left. I need someone with experiences  to confirm.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have also read somewhere data doesn't prorate but I was not convinced because how can the company let me get away so easily when I used all the data in 15 days and jump to a new plan. Yes someone with experience can confirm but thanks anyways for your time :)

Data is indeed not prorated so you have no need to worry about it.
I remember hearing why once upon a time but can't seem to remember anymore.

You cannot go backwards for data, only upgrade. After billing cycle you can then go to a lesser plan
So upgrade to a higher GB plan and then switch before you use any data on next bill cycle.

You can only change plans once per billing cycle so that goes a long way to preventing that being abused.

Hi Shahroz,

Just to echo the replies. Data indeed does not prorate when you change your plan. You will get the full 2GB of data once you change midway your billing cycle. However, you can only change plan once per billing cycle. When you switch to the new plan and the old older plan is no longer available in-market. You will not be able to switch back to the old plan.

Happy Holidays :)
