The $25 plan currently offered is not Canada-Wide --- local calls only.

But you can add a Canada-wide talk booster for anytime calls and those that would currently be long distance.

If you are talking about postpaid $25 Canada-wide Talk & Text plan...
It is not include Canada-wide anytime minutes.

They shouldn't say "Canada-wide Talk & Text $25"

BobTheElectrician:  Thanks you.  So if I am understanding this correctly, I can add-on 500 Canada-wide any time minutes for $25.  Unused minutes don't expire.  That's ok - 5 cents per minute is fair.  I rarely make long distance calls so 500 minutes will last a long time.

Do you have  a prepaid plan or postpaid plan?

If you have a prepaid, yes, you can add a Talk booster.
But if you have a postpaid/monthly plan, you can't use a talk booster.
You will pay long distance charge of $0.5/min.

Sorry, I somehow assumed you were on the pre-paid $25 plan. If so, the boosters  are a good choice.

If you are on a post-paid $25 plan with local calling, that plan is no longer offered according to the web site, so I can't offer any advice. If the plan clearly states that no long distance is included, you will have to pay extra. For a few dollars more a month, your chargeable 100 minutes become Canada-wide, there are free calling periods  and you gain some data.

I'm on the monthly plan.  So now I'm confused again.  I have 100 anytime local minutes.  I have unlimited evenings and weekends.  Are the unlimited evenings and weekends also local?  If so, "Canada-wide" is very misleading, especially for Koodo which brags about plain talk.

So if I can't use an add-on, then long distance at 50 cents a minute is very expensive.  Can I use Yak or some such third party long distance provider?

Hey Ted, thanks for your feedback we made some changes to the way that we announce this plan :) . You can always try to use a third party app through Wi-Fi (Skype, Whatsapp) to help you make those long distance calls without any charges on your phone bill.  Hope this helps!
