I got a Umi Zero. It is not connecting to Koodo. Have other people used this phone with this provider?

If it is an Asian phone, chances are it will only work with GSM frequencies, Tim :( It might work on Rogers but most probably not on the Telus/Bell network :(

According this, the Zero is not compatible with Koodo's networks

Koodo uses
3G WCDMA/HSPA+ 850/1900
4G LTE 1700/2100

Just to add, the LTE is optional. 3G is required.

Does it matter that I don't use Data?
I use Wifi at Home, Work and most anywhere else. It connects to that. I just want to be able to send a receive text messages and the occasional phone call.

It doesn't matter if you want to use data or not. The frequencies need to match. The specifications say that it doesn't support the 850/1900 bands for 3G needed for voice/text/data so unfortunately, you cannot use that phone with Koodo. Sorry. If you can, try to return the phone.
