I currently have a Koodo phone with a 35/mo ppd plan. Is there a cheaper plan?

I have an Alcatel pixi phone and am in Hamilton.  I would like more basic service.  It appears you offer ppd plans for less than 35.

The $15 base plan for prepaid is the lowest price Koodo offers

It's actually 10% cheaper if you register your credit card for automatic payments, plus you'll get some talk minutes free in the process. The $20 SIM charge should not deter you, because it will be credited towards your account on activation.

So I need to renew the phone now.  If I just put $15 on will it work?

You will need to manually change your baseplan. You should do it near the end of the current baseplan as you won't get any refund for the existing baseplan.

The 15.00 base plan only covers you for text messaging, you will have to purchase minutes and data separately.  And the beauty of that is that purchased talk minutes and data don't expire.  If your someone like me 500 minutes can last me 6 months.

Also, the $15 dollar plan does not include unlimited evening and weekend calling. The $25 baseplan might be an option and includes unlimited evening and weekend local calling after 7 pm. To some, that's an added bonus. Add the 10% savings for registering your credit or debit card for automatic top up and it's not a bad plan at all.
