I can't verify my (prepaid) phone number via text with Amazon

I'm trying to verify my cell phone number with Amazon (especially important so that I can turn on 2-factor sign in) and the texts from them are never arriving on my phone, either from Amazon.ca or Amazon.com

Is there a chance however their shortcode is being blocked or they are automating it in some way that doesn't work with Koodo? What info should I ask their support for for Koodo to look into it?

I'm on prepaid.

When setting it up with Amazon, try using Telus as the carrier instead of Koodo. Same network so it should work and has in the past

There is no choice for carrier on either set-up page I have tried.

AFAIK, some cell notifications from UPS, USPS, Amazon and other US-based shippers only work with American numbers. 100% reliable on my US cell phone, yet to see one work on my Koodo.

Probably has to do with security concerns over automated international texts on the shipper's side, not with Koodo. Short codes can have a lot of restrictions built-in, and some US providers don't support outgoing international texts at all for whatever reason.

I have 2nd factor set up and working for Facebook, PayPal, and Flickr. Also, even Amazon.ca is not working. So I don't believe it's a region thing.

Possibly Koodo Prepaid doesn't support that kind of Txt Message Short Code. I know Public Mobile has lots of Support in the Short Codes

Hey Kaitlyn! Premium messages aren't supported by our Prepaid services, so if Amazon is sending you a message via Short Code, you will not get it. There should be an option to verify your phone number by phone, so Amazon will call you and you will hear an automated message with your code number.

Hi Anna, I've used short codes on this plan with various other 2-factor-offering websites including Paypal and Apple. The Amazon second factor is new. Maybe the other numbers are on a whitelist but Amazon isn't yet?
