I canceled my service in December 2017. Why koodo is still charging the month of January 2018?

It's likely they automatically made it go to the end of the billing cycle. Did you have a plan that didn't include unlimited minutes? If it's cheaper to cancel right away than to run out the billing cycle you can send a private message to Koodo via Facebook Messenger or DM via Twitter to get it adjusted.
