I believe I'm supposed to be charged for a month's usage in advance, but my recent bills have been for past cycles?

I have only had my current plan for a few months, and if I remember correctly, one of the things I was informed of was that I would always be billed in advance for a cycle's usage. That made sense to me.

However, my last two or three bills have stated that the current bill is to be applied to the previous month's usage.
For example, my current bill is due by March 12th, and it says it covers from January 17 - February 16 (today being Feb 19). I haven't missed a bill payment. Also something possibly worth noting, I just payed my previous bill on the 9th of this month. I'm not sure if it's unusual for your next bill to be ready so quickly.
Is this something that just happens sometimes, or is there an error occurring somewhere?

You pay for the next month (so your basic plan amount) plus any overage for the month that just past. So if you go over your minutes that will be added to your present bill. Basically after your first bill you can just think of it as normal billing for each month.
