I got an iPhone 4 that used to belong to Bell. I got it unlocked by Bell. I want to use it with my Koodo SIM card. When I put the SIM card in the phone I get the message "No Service". What can I do to get this resolved?

Try restarting, pull the Sim out and back in again. You can also reset network settings. After that go into manual network selection an let the list populate and see if Koodo shows up as an option.

Does the Koodo SIM work in another phone? Do you have som other Sim to see if it will work?

Are you currently Koodo customer? (Is your Koodo SIM activated?)
Did you restart your phone?

I have tried restarting the phone. I am a Koodo customer - this SIM card works on an iPhone 5. I don't have another SIM card to try to see if the phone is OK.  I have reset network settings and I'm still getting the same message "No Service". What now?

iPhone 4 uses a micro SIM while the 5 uses a nano SIM. Do you have an adapter for the 4?

Yes, I have an adapter cutout, which makes it fit. I'm not getting an error like "error reading SIM" or anything like that. I just get a "No service" message at the top left.

Does the Koodo network support the iPhone 4? I tried a Videotron SIM card and it gave me the same message. After talking to Videotron they told me that the Videotron network no longer supports the frequency of the iPhone 4. Is that the same case for Koodo?

Does Koodo show up in manual network list? What is the network option listed as? 2g , WCDMA or hspa or something ?

Koodo will still support it if it was from Bell.

Oh Video tron would never have supported it they only have AWS frequency bands for 3g and the iPhone 4 was only quad band 2g and 3g. It should work if it's set t wcdma or 2g and 3g

Just to confirm, if you look on the back of the iPhone 4, there should be a model number printed. If it's model number A1332, this model is compatible with Koodo, (3G only). With SIM card installed, try the steps below.

You can manually check for and install a carrier settings update using these steps:

1. Make sure your device is connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network.
2.Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, you'll see an option to update your carrier settings.

To see the version of carrier settings on your device, tap Settings > General > About and look next to Carrier.
If you insert a new SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, you need to download the carrier settings for your new carrier.

Yes, the model number at the back is A1332. The software is all up to date, iOS 7.1.2 with no other pending updates. The carrier shows Bell 16.1. I just got new instructions from Bell on what to do. Let me try this and I'll update this thread in a few minutes.

Stupid question my part, but are you SURE Bell applied the unlock?  What happens if a Bell SIM is inserted?

They told me it is unlocked, but I'm not sure. How can I be sure? I don't know of a sure proof way to verify that on my end.

Basically you would use a Bell sim, see if it works. If it works but a non-bell sim does not, then you know that it's locked.

A not 100% perfect method if you can't put a Bell sim in is:
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Mobile (if the device is set to American English it will say "Cellular" instead).
  3. Check for an option named Mobile Data Network (or Cellular Data Network)
If that option is there, it's likely unlocked.

You can also go to a Bell store and ask to have a sim put in to see if the phone works.

OK, finally got it working. In the end it was a Bell issue. They hadn't finished the unlock process. They gave me some more instructions (basically a full reset of the phone) and then that worked. All is good again. Thanks for all the help.

I have the same issue! But this iPhone 6s is unlocked with Fido and I'm pretty sure it's unlocked Now Koodo is saying that it is flagged as stolen or lost but I went to Fido and they said it isn't. I can't use my phone for more than 5 days what can I do?
