i am going to cuba and i want to facetime back home, it wont use any data if i use free wifi right?

No. But just to make sure remove your SIM card and leave it at home. Like that you won't be charged a dime. Also, make sure the free wifi hotspot supports FaceTime or skype. Some decide to block those applications because they use video streaming. They block it the same way as they block Netflix

Good idea to remove the sim. That way you know for sure. Also you can turn mobile data of as well as any settings for mobile data data roaming to off.

You're not likely to find free WiFi in Cuba and your connection will likely not be good enough for FaceTime.
