Hi Sandi,

Here are the steps you will need to follow:
  1. Start off by picking out a rate-plan that interests you here.
  2. If your phone is android, go to step 3. If your phone is iPhone, you will need to get bell to unlock it for you for a fee. After you pay bell to unlock it, you will need to perform a factory reset of the device before the unlock is complete.
  3. Go to your nearest Koodo retail location (See them here) and tell them you want to activate a new account and keep your phone number from bell. Make sure you bring some ID with you (health card is not valid) and either a credit card or SIN for a credit check.
  4. Upon passing the credit check, the rep will call Bell, cancel your account with them and transfer your current phone number to your new Koodo account.
  5. Everything should be all set! If you are having trouble using data or sending MMS messages, please follow the following instructions: iPhone or Android
That should be all the info you need, please let me know if you have any further questions.

They should still be able to transfer your number.

If you want to keep your phone, you'll need to get Bell to unlock it for a $50 fee. If it's an iPhone, you'll have to get Bell to do it. If it's an Android, you can get Bell to do it or use a third party website which usually offer cheaper rates.

I've never had any issues porting any PPD numbers from Bell, Virgin, Rogers, Fido, or Wind to a Koodo Postpaid account.  I've never had the opportunity to attempt to port a number from either Telus PPD or Koodo PPD.  Or Chatr for that matter.

thanks for the info. The Koodo store person told me I needed my Bell Prepaid account number to transfer my phone number to Koodo, and if I didn't have it I'd have to get a new phone number. I'd like to keep my number, so maybe I'll go back to the store and try again. I have a Koodo Android phone that I got from a friend of mine that just upgraded to a new Koodo phone.

So I did switch over to Koodo today. But Koodo store said it could not be done without having my Bell account number. So I called Bell and got my account number, the switch over worked fine.

I just went through the process..my contract was coming to an end at Bell...but my wife had term remaining on a phone we purchased on my account, we shared data. Just to be sure that my phone was compatible with the Koodo Network( unlocked Android ) I went to a kiosk to ensure there wasn't going to be any issues and verified with a Koodo demo SIM...We then unlocked my wife's phone through Bell, prepared to pay off the outstanding balance on her phone and switched! It was easy...the ONLY issue I ran into during the process was a temporary loss of my contact list, easily remedied by a temporary switch and upload from my Bell SIM...There were no issues with my wife's IPhone. As Mathieu explained...its an easy process as long as your credit is fine...Its been a few weeks since we switched and are more than happy so far with the features of the plans that we selected.
