HTC One V texting app issue

Sometimes when I try to click on a text thread on my HTC One V, it will "load" the thread for an insanely long time (sometimes up to 5 minutes). The list of threads loads fine, but not the specific thread I click on. Here's what I've tried:
* shutting down other programs with the task manager
* searching for software or firmware updates
* rebooting
* periodically deleting long threads, and setting a low limit of lines to keep

...but it keeps happening. Everything else runs as expected, and when I've looked this up online people have said that using a different texting app doesn't work (which I haven't tried). Any other suggestions? I'm not addicted to texting, but this can be very inconvenient when I'm trying to send time-sensitive texts.

As long as it is not a HUGE issue, you could attempt a factory reset on the phone. I usually suggest that as a last resort since it does remove any and all information on the phone. Back it up first, of course. Remove the SIM and SD card, if you have one in the phone.

1.Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap Settings
2.Tap Storage > Factory data reset.
3.Tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything.

HTC One V-not a good phone for texting!

Factory reset of phone is a huge inconvenience but I did it because I was having this same problem! I also tried deleting all my message history and the problem occurred as soon as I had even 1 message in the thread. Ive tried everything blunderspublik mentions above has tried as well.

It didnt fix the issue and its driving me crazy to sit there and wait 5 minutes almost every time I want to send a text. Additionally, sometimes while typing a text message, it will crash and return to the list of messages before I can send.
Lately the letters I type won"t appear in the text box right away and I have to try typing every now and then for a minute or two before the characters start appearing.

I havent even paid off my phone yet and I'm already regretting buying it.

Hold on a sec, let's leave the factory reset alone for a mintue.

Are your old messages in that particular conversation being deleted or do you keep all of them? Even high end devices have limited memory for texts so if you have like 5,000 messages saved, the phone will have a lot of trouble loading it.

Messaging > Settings > General > Delete old messages and set it to something reasonable like 500 or less.

If you still wish to keep your conversation with your significant other or something, then use an SMS backup app. They can be found on the Play Store.

Thanks Jonathan but if you had read my comment it says:

"I also tried deleting all my message history and the problem occurred as soon as I had even 1 message in the thread. Ive tried everything blunderspublik mentions above has tried as well."

meaning:
"* shutting down other programs with the task manager
* searching for software or firmware updates
* rebooting
* periodically deleting long threads, and setting a low limit of lines to keep"

Yes I used SMS backup app to save conversations I wanted to keep.

I have set the msg limit at 100 and the multimedia message at 5.

But like I said, it occurs at even 1 message in the conversation even when there is only 1 or 2 threads at all.

Alright then... perform a factory reset. That should clear out any other problems you may be experiencing.

If you still aren't satisifed with how the phone performs, I think it's about time for an upgrade.
