I found a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 and can't find the owner. I want to activate it under my name but it has a password and I need to remove it before I can use it. I have looked all over but can't find anything about an Ace 2 it's just all Ace 2X.

The koodo version IS the Ace 2x. Unfortunately I have yet to find a way to put this phone into recovery mode. I've tried home and power, home down and power, home up and power, volume up, volume down and power, voulume up, volume down, home and power, nothing. The only option might be to download the factory firmware and use Odin to reflash the OS.

Just connect the phone to to a computer via usb cable then restart the phone holding the home + Volume up and down buttons. Then you will be in recovery mode. Then use the volume buttons to scroll to factory data reset and select it using the home button and then click yes and now the phone will be like brand new

The Ace 2 doesnt go to any screen after holding the power/home/volume up. I can get to the custom OS screen where I can download a custom OS but when I hit the up again to do it, it just sits there trying to download.

turn phone off, then press power / home / volume down until screen turns to Warning. keep holding even after it starts booting. this should put it into download mode. other than that, try a usb jig from ebay...

There is a way to put the Ace 2X in recovery mode when it's turned off. I've tested it and it works. All you need to do is press and hold vol up + vol down and home at the same time while the phone is off. Then press and hold power until it turns on, release the power button but keep holding the other 3 until a big green android shows up. Its now safe to release all buttons and shortly it will bring you to the reboot menu. Use vol up and down to scroll and use the power button to select. Once the menu shows up its your basic Android system recovery menu thats on almost every Android.
