How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen.

This number is unique to your handset.

Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code.

They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

You mean the imei # that's right on your phone under the battery or on the box when you buy it lol. It's not a secret, sorry to burst your bubble.

I do not know about your phone Buddy but the complete IMEI # for my phone has 3 more digits than the box.

I should have said 15 digit + more, if applicable.

It's also possible to change this number on many phones (even though it is like changing the serial number of a motor vehicle and illegal), there are tools to do it that work for many phones.

Nobody "plans" to have their phone stolen so likely people won't take the precaution of saving it in a safe place (of course if you have the box it came it the IMEI is likely on the outside of the box. One place to find it is on the Google Dashboard -> Android Device -> More Data About This Device (if it is an Android and you use Google).
