How does data on flip phones work in the mobile browser and how do you buy data for that

I really don't know how flip phones get there data connection.

That depends on the flip phone you're using.

Koodo offers CDMA service on older flip phones for the time being (basically any phone without a SIM) I'm not sure if that's ever been called "1G," but the data is pretty compact in order for the phone to display the pages.

Me, I've got the Samsung u410 which runs on the CDMA network. Last month I was without a computer so whenever I needed to look something up I used my phone. With the compression of the data I only ended up using 18 MB despite browsing, like, all the time.

On later flip phones that have SIM cards, Koodo offers HSPA or 3G coverage which isn't compressed as much so you would see more usage if you browse, but since they're not "smart" devices they won't use data on their own so much.

Either way, data is billed at the same rate regardless of the network used (not entirely fair, if you ask me) and there's a full list of data plans here:
