All you need to do is set up a prepaid account and specify that you want to transfer your active number. Just like you would if you were changing companies.

I want similar action. There is no contract and I want to change to prepaid plan as I don't have much requirement. I need about 100 mts and data about 100 GB as i am not able to afford the current billing

Go to a Koodo boutique. You will have to buy a new prepaid SIM for $20, which will be credited back to your account when you set it up.

With SIM in hand, the entire process takes about 10 minutes to do on-line including transferring your number from your monthly account, which will automatically be closed. You can't do this any way other than on-line: boutique can not do it nor will calling in do it for free. Any outstanding tab will have to be settled at that time.

While you are away on your extended vacation, you don't have to pay a prepaid monthly fee to Koodo: you can let Kodo service lapse for up to 90 days before you lose any booster minutes or data you may have. You will also not be able to roam with a prepaid SIM under any circumstances. Get the phone unlocked and use a local SIM if you absolutely need some kind of service while you are away.
