The current iPad data plans in Canada suck. I wish Koodo would step up to the plate and hit another home run for Canadians by doing it right. Forget the flex plan, forget about overage charges, how about this - offer only one choice, 5GB for $30, expires in 365 days. Unused data carries over to the next month. Once the 5GB is used up we buy another 5GB for $30. As for the iPad sim card, how about $20 dollars at the Kiosk or online and as a promo when you start the iPad plan, offer a free iPad sim card for a limited time. Free activation online, $10 service charge to get a rep to activate it over the phone. This would be a great iPad plan. A simple, reliable wireless iPad plan. How about it Koodo executives or whoever makes the decision - Yes?

As it stands, there are no plans to implement data only plays or carry data only device. Roll overs aren't going to happen as they aren't that feasable.

I'm not a fan of internet only devices and I can't see Koodo carrying them.

"Roll overs aren't going to happen as they aren't that feasible."

I thnk Koodo might disagree with you on that one Myke since they are already doing it. Koodo rolls over un-used data prepaid boosters and the data prepaid booster never expires as long as the person is paying the monthly base plan. The minimum prepaid base plan is $15 dollars a month.

I am not suggesting Koodo start offering the iPad Mini with Retina display or the iPad Air.

I am suggesting Koodo start offering a reasonably priced and fair iPad Data Plan.

Roll overs were attempted by other providers. They are no longer do it didn't work out.

As far as I can tell, Koodo has no intentions of offering internet only plans as they do not even support internet only devices.

I think this idea thread merits a deeper look.

I have no opinion on this because I use an iPhone and will probably never buy an iPad (not being able to make a call is a huge tradeoff to me).

What if customers brought (bought) their own iPad from the Apple store or another service provider? Even if the plan prices were at par with other providers, would it still be unfeasible?

Koodo's systems do no support internet only devices and would cost way too much to warrant implementing them. If you want to use internet only services with a tablet, your best bet is Telus.

Aren't Koodo's primary competitors Fido and Virgin? They both offer data-only plans.

Ivan, I think the point Myke is making is that Koodo has better prices than Fido and Virgin and its because of their current setup. They would need to do upgrades to support devices that use only data (don`t have a phone number) and the trade-offs would be higher prices to customers.

Most of the time, Koodo's prices is on par with Fido/Virgin, just like Telus' prices are usually on par with Rogers/Bell.

As it stands, there are NO data only plans with Koodo being a strictly cell phone service provider. There does not seem to be any intention to provide such a plan.

Extracted from Koodo's site, here's the reason why they aren't offering it atm

Does Koodo offer data plans for tablets and internet sticks?
Data plans for tablets are expensive! With an Android smartphone or iPhone, you can create a Wi-Fi hotspot. This Wi-Fi hotspot will allow you to share your data add-on with any tablet or computer.

I don't really see a reason there.

Does Koodo offer data plans for tablets and internet sticks? Data plans for tablets are expensive!

..... but still a bit cheaper than the same plan with voice and SMS attached!

Dear Koodo,

Please take my money! I will gladly pay for a data only plan or an add-on to my existing plan. It would be nice to share my current data plan without using the Wi-Fi hotspot on my mobile phone (it totally kills my battery).

Please let me know when I can give you more of my money.

Really good idea to share current data plan with an iPhone.
