A few of my threads were are erroneously marked answered (not by me). As the original poster, is there a means by which I can unmark a question as answered?

No way, José.

It's at the discretion of the moderators.

Have seen at least a few threads persist for 20+ posts after being marked answered.

The other side of the coin is that less than 1 in ??? people who find a solution to their problems here actually post back and say "it worked, thanks".

After a while, especially after the same +/- question gets asked and +/- answered, the core group that does research and has knowledge here can also start to lose interest.

So please, beore starting a new thread, do a quick search, and if the answer ends up helping, please post back that it worked,

I see that too Bob. Now, why do you think people keep asking the same questions sometimes? Laziness? Or is it something about the structure of this site that needs to change?

Hey Andy, Can you post a couple links here to your questions that were not answered but that were marked as answered so we can have a look at them please?

I'm sure you know Paul you can look at all his postings here:

http://community.koodomobile.com/peop...

They are indeed marked as answered. My understanding is that you and the rest of the mobile masters along with koodo sometimes, are the ones marking them "answered". Maybe the OP found that a few of them didn't really address his inquiry yet they were marked as such.

I only mark questions 'answered' by request - did it on one occasion earlier in the year. Otherwise, I leave them be. Even if questions are marked answered, I still read through the answers to see if there's any information I can contribute that others may have missed. The majority of answers are generally quite thorough, which is why I think Paul is asking for specifics.

I do in fact research a problem before posting. It could get you your answer more quickly, and if not, it could focus your question in posting.

At http://community.koodomobile.com/kood..., I described my troubleshooting of data usage. A respondent kindly provided some suggestions as to some possible factors, but it's quite far from explaining the detailed symptoms.

I understand that neglected questions have to be vetted, and that anyone trying to vet outstanding questions might not read the thread in detail, and might mark it answered based on general impression. Paul also has a point: That the OP may be seeking more detail.

At answers.microsoft.com, the solution is to provider the OP with the option of unmarking the "answered" designation. Note that OPs who neglect their threads aren't like to come back to use that option, so such an option shouldn't compromise the goal of vetting neglected questions.
