I want to change the APN type to MMS only on my Nexus 5, but when I try to save I get : "Access Point Name settings are not available for this user."
Any work around for this?
thanks

If your phone won't allow altering the APN settings then you'll have to go into your koodo self serve and add the mms only addon to your plan.

You can try again to alter the settings and here's what you'd put

Name: KOODO
APN: sp.koodo.com
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http ://aliasredirect.net/proxy/koodo/mmsc
MMS Proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: None
APN type: default, mms

Thanks Paul
I have just noticed that I can put in mms, supl and it allows me to save the changes. Do you know if this setting will give the same result as just mms?

NP. It should. Enter it and then try to access internet with your device if you want to make sure...if you can't access the internet then your good to go.
I'd test it for you myself but my device is just a simple text switch between internet and mms or just mms.
Let us know how it goes.

Yes with Wifi off, I can't access the internet, but can send mms.
Thanks

Are you on the owner account on the phone?
Instead of changing the current one can you simply create an new APN type with only MMS allowed?

By the way, if you are doing this to not get charged for other data usage it isn't guaranteed to work. It's worked for some and not for others. Koodo offers a $2/month data block with MMS add-on if you're interested.

Thanks for  your reply.
I am the account owner, and previously I was with Rogers and able to set the APN to just mms.
I have tried to create a new APN type with only MMS but I get the same error message when trying to save.

On the Nexus you can have multiple user accounts on the phone, just like you can login to different accounts one computer.
If you are on a guest account you won't be able to change certain settings.

Yes I see what you were saying. I am not on a guest account. Thanks
