I've ported my number out as of 17th of this month and want to cancel as of that date. The 'sorry to see you go' email from koodo says it'll cancel as of the 9th of next month (end of my billing cycle) I don't want to pay for a full month when I am no longer using the phone. How do I cancel? I can't figure out how to call in without it costing my $10 ...?

Did you keep the same number when you ported out? If yes cancel should be immediate. Send us a private message on Facebook so we can look at your account and confirm.

What plan did you have with Koodo?

In some cases, if you cancel right away, your minutes and data are pro-rated.  This means, canceling in the middle of the billing cycle will result in Overage charges.  So Koodo saves you money by cancelling at the end of the month instead,

Ex. If you have 500mins and used all 500 mins and you port out at the middle of the billing cycle, you would have incurred 250mins in overage.  By cancelling at the end of your billing cycle, you would have saved on overage fees

I was on a monthly plan and had unlimited nights/weekends. Aside from that I had 150 minutes (IIRC). Of that 150 minutes I maybe used 10 minutes max. I can't tell because once cancelled my information isn't available. Basically, I want to cancel as of the 17th, when I stopped using the phone and moved the number out. I do not want to continue the a/c until Jun 9th. As far as I know, according to the CRTC I shouldn't have to pay for a plan that I've cancelled.

Yes thanks. So very odd that I need to complete the cancellation via either facebook or twitter. As much as I was a fan of Koodo - this no support via phone is the main reason I've moved on. Regardless of what sort of support I needed - it shouldn't be this difficult. Just sayin...

Jackie, the cancellation takes place immediately at port-out to another carrier. However, billing for the services end at your next bill cycle to avoid what Dennis above described. However, if you want cancel to take place immediately you can contact us, we will tell you what is outstanding and can decide then. You are right the CRTC initiated the motion to end all services automatically at the same date cancel takes place. This is expected by the end of the year.  Unfortunately, this will also have a negative effect on customer who use more than the prorated amount of their services. They will now have to pay extra for the extra use. :-(

Indeed we are not for everyone as you mentioned. We are typically a self service brand. Which mean most of our support is online. Faster, more convenient and free most of the time. I do thank you for your business and wish you all the best with Zoomer.

Hi Bernard,

I have left Canada on Aug 17 for a long leave and I haven't been not able to cancel my account through the phone due to very long waiting time for the cancellation department (for international call I got charged almost $50 for being "on hold"). How can I cancel online or through email? please advise. Thanks.
