My wife's Samsung S4 Mini cannot send emojis. I've been told I need to change the character encoding to "Auto". Where can I find this option on her phone? Any assistance is appreciated.

Never heard of that but you can go into settings and then Language and input and see if there's an option to enable emojis. Or the better option is to download a 3rd party keyboard like SwiftKey from the PlayStore, everyone I know uses SwiftKey and it's the first Hong they install on every Android device when they get a phone it's that great. Below a link to download it from the PlayStore.
