How to access SMS messages when not using Koodo SIM card?

Hi there,

I will be traveling to India and because pay per use is excruciatingly expensive, I will attempt to get a local SIM card. I know, I will be able to check my Koodo voicemail during this time by just dialing my home number and adding a * at the prompt. Using Google Voice over WiFi, it will not cost me anything (thanks to my VPN, of course). So, that's no headache, however, I am concerned about incoming SMSs. How can I make sure I see those, while not on Koodo. Is there some way to access them online?  Forwarding to email or something?

As for phone: I just switched from iphone to Motorola Moto X-Play (and I am liking it alot).

No there is no way. You need to give your local india number to friends and family back home for SMS.

Thanks Ahmad,

I've been doing some further research and I might have come up with something that might work:

I still have my old iphone. So, once I am away, I could go online to Self-serve and switch back to my old SIM card, which is still in that iphone. So, while I am away, the thingi would at least register incoming SMSs and I could ask the same person that is looking after my snail mail, to let me know what's going on there ... it's seems very, very backwards ... but at least, I am not missing anything ... not that whatever comes in through SMS is high priority.

I understand that I will have to switch back to my new SIM card within 90 days, if I don't want my new SIM card in my Motorola to be deactivated.

That can work! You seem to know exactly what you're doing! I'm surprised and very impressed you know about the 90 day rule with switching between sim cards. Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks for the compliment, Ahmad. Detail-orientation mostly leads to insanity.  :)
