You can put your account on a seasonal hold, you'll need to contact Koodo directly by sending them a Private message to their FB or calling customer service and ask to be put on it... Oh and it's $10 a month
You will however lose your plan and need to pick one that's available when your return so if you have a great plan you might want to just pay your time gone regularly

Hi Elaine,
Are you on prepaid or postpaid plans? If you are on postpaid (monthly),you can follow Paul suggestion with seasonal hold (I think the price is $15/month)

If you are on a prepaid plan, you could continue to pay the base plan (which is also 15/month) to keep the number.

If you don't want to pay, you would have to cancel the plan, and activate a new one when you come back.

If prepaid, the account can lapse for up to 90 days. In this case, once Elaine returns in 55 days, she could re-start her plan, and continue as she does now.

@David: So it would be cheaper to port to prepaid if someone wants to keep the number while they are out of Canada?. Cost = a prepaid SIM + $15/90 days?.

If you port to prepaid from postpaid, then it will cancel your monthly plan.
It might be cheaper, But you have to pay off your Tab on your next bill and you can't keep your current monthly plan when you came back.

David is talking about IF you are already prepaid customer and hold service for awhile .

@Dinh I know the scenario you are talking about and it would be cheaper by about $10 for 89 days. Like Mayumi pointed out though it would hardly be worth all the hassle to go from postpaid to prepaid instead of using seasonal hold.

@Mayumi: Yes, I know about the Tab issues if someone ports. I was thinking about the specific case of keeping a phone number only. I was trying to compare of using koodo prepaid and a Fongo voip number ($25 to port to)
