On some plans, there is pay-per-use data. How does it work? If you pay $5 for 100MB, does unused data get cut off at the end of the month, or does it continue until you've used it up? Can it be added onto an older plan that is not currently available?

Once you turn on and start to use your data you get charged $5 and get 100MB to use.
Unused data is not carried over month to month in this case. (It does for prepaid data boosters).
Older plans should have their own pay per use rates. Login to self serve and view your rate plan to see what it is. All current plans have $5/100MB but I've seen older ones with $5/50MB or $7.50/50MB

You should be notified once you consume $50 of data at pay per use rates.

You will be notified as you approach your monthly limit, and once at 100% be offered the choice of continuing at pay per use rates, or purchasing a bucket of data for a small sum.

@Bruce, just a heads up you have a plan that doesn't come with data just minutes. You can always change to one with data included online, if you see you might be using it.

But I can use up to 100 mb for $7, right?

I believe voice & text plans have a data block to prevent unexpected data use.

Yes Bruce, once you start using data you will get notifications for that 100mb. At 50% and 90%. Once you used it up you will paused and can only proceed if you agree to continue.
