How do the returns work if I can't pick up my parcel?

I ordered a phone on 24th of July, and Canada Post tried to deliver on the 26th of July but I wasn't home. I had to leave the province on the 27th for business.

I have until 10th to pick it up (Aug 10th) but I doubt I'll be back by then. I asked a friend but Canada Post is asking me to fax them a letter of authorization. I did but fax them but fax is old school and there are snags.

Question 1) does my 15 day warranty start when the delivery was attempted or when I pick the item up?

Question 2) in the worse case scenario, my friend not being able to collect it, and Canada Post ends up sending it back to kodoo, what happens then? What are my options?

Thanks.

Technically when the order is placed I believe but the time is extended based on when you got it and when you requested to return it.

Good question... I can surmise thst delivery can be reattempted.

I believe with CP they attempt delivery only once. If you're not home, they leave a sticky behind.
Thanks for your answer.

Honestly they probably wont be too picky about that letter of autorization. If the fax wasnt working for you, you could just take a half decent picture of the form and send it to your friend to print off. As long as you can read everything thatll be fine.

I did. She has a printout. But they are adamant about a fax. I haven't used fax for 10 years ago I'm struggling to find why they still use it. Hopefully it will be sorted today.
