I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy S2. The previous owner was with Koodo but I am still on a 3 year contract with Bell. After replacing the SIM Card, I realized the phone's locked and I'm not sure how to unlock it. Is this an expensive service and who can unlock it for me?

eBay is your best bet for unlocking

Also 3 year contracts are no more.  If you are on an old 3 year contract you may be free to cancel with no cancellation fees.

Hi there...

I have used www.gsmliberty.net in the past...It works fine... You will need the phone's IMEI to do so...

Enjoy

You can unlock any Koodo or Telus phone at https://unlocklocks.com for a reasonable price.

I heard from someone that there is a law in place now that this unlock service is provided free by your new provider.

If your phone is unlocked you can use it with Bell. If you have a Koodo account you can unlock through self serve or you are going to have to contact Koodo to unlock.

Yes if you purchased the device from Koodo, you can unlock with Koodo.

If you are an exisiting customer, you can unlock it on self serve.  If you are not a Koodo customer, you can unlock it by sending a private message to Koodo via Facebook or twitter with the IMEI number

Eileen If you are with another provider and want to switch to Koodo then yes get your phone unlocked from your current provider first and then make the switch to Koodo. Same with going from Koodo to someone else, get your phone unlocked first. It makes things much easier.

Always unlock the device first while you are still a customer (it makes things much easier).  Also it's free anyways
